A peculiar notion has taken root in the art world – the idea that masterful art can emerge from a void untouched by suffering. This well-meaning but privileged perspective, famously championed by David Lynch before his recent passing, feels like an attempt at erasure of countless artists whose wounds and traumas have birthed some of humanity's most profound creative expressions. As someone who has navigated both darkness and light in my journey, I find myself both challenging and engaging with this idea from a different angle.
